The Pan American Concerned Citizen’s Action League, Inc. or PACCAL is staging the play “Dust Castles” (please see attached poster) in cooperation with the Jersey City Free Public Library on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 2 pm, at the Five Corners Library Auditorium, at 678 Newark Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey. With setting in the Philippines, the play chronicles the lives of eight childhood friends whose young dreams were affected by the onset of World War II. Together they built their hopes for the future, only to be rudely interrupted by the ugliness of war. As well, the play touches on the issues of problems and challenges that immigrant families now and then face in a newfound land.
“Dust Castles” will treat the audience to an hour of unique theatre experience as the play will also showcase the Philippine culture through folk dances featuring the terpsichorean talents of Ms. Virgie Alvarez, famed folk dance choreographer, and her New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble. The cast will be supported by members of the Rejoice for God The Greatest Artist Acting Group (RFGAG) who have acted in such plays as Looking for William, Father on Earth… Father in Heaven, Ang Pagbabalik Ni Nonong, Ang Aginaldo, Sandcastles on the Hill, Ang Nobya Ko’ng Arabyana, How To Cook Adobo, and other stage outings presented in the NY-NJ area.
“Dust Castles” hopes to convery the overall message which is about hanging on to one’s faith in GOD and allowing the positive power of forgiveness, hope, selflessness, and above all – love – to prevail.
